He signed a six year deal after he held out because he wanted more guaranteed money. The contract contained very high performance clauses in order to void the sixth year, and he hasn't hit them. Six years is a lifetime in the NFL, Crabtree may be willing to sign an extension before he hits FA, especially with his playing style and injury history. These were the performance clauses for Crabtree to have the sixth year of his deal voided.(1) Crabtree makes one Pro Bowl in the first four years of the contract AND in the first five years of the contract, in a year other than the year he makes the Pro Bowl, Crabtree plays in 80% of the team's offensive plays and the team makes the playoffs in that year;OR(2) Crabtree makes one Pro Bowl in the first four years of the contract AND in the first five years of the contract, in a year other than the year he makes the Pro Bowl, is named All-NFL and the team makes the playoffs in that year;OR(3) Crabtree makes two Pro Bowls in the first five years of the contract.
